Invisalign FAQS
How does Invisalign work?
The course of treatment involves changing aligners approximately every two weeks, moving your teeth into straighter position step by step, until you have a more beautiful smile. And unlike braces, these clear aligners can be removed while you eat and brush your teeth, following a normal routine. Never will you have to worry about food getting stuck or lodged as you would if you were to opt for braces.
What are the benefits of Invisalign?
- Clear aligners are practically invisible, so there’s no unwarranted attention to your mouth. In fact, very few people will notice at all – unless you tell them.
- Aligners are smooth and comfortable
- Aligners are removable, allowing you to remove them easily for important functions, when eating, brushing and flossing your teeth.
- No dietary restriction as you can remove them before meals
How long is the Invisalign treatment?
On average, the Invisalign treatment takes about a year. You will see Dr. Saylor every 6 to 8 weeks for adjustments and to check progress. At regular intervals, you will receive a new set of custom-molded clear aligners to continue the straightening process. The total number of clear aligners is specific to you, determined by Dr. Saylor during the course of your treatment.
How do you know if you qualify for Invisalign?
Teens and adults who have who have healthy teeth and gums but slightly crooked or misaligned teeth are the best candidates for Invisalign. Given the flexible and convenient nature of Invisalign and the ability to remove them at will, it is important for patients to be committed to wearing their aligners when required to receive optimal results. Since there is a certain degree of responsibility and commitment to the Invisalign treatment it is not suited for everyone’s lifestyle. For this reason, Invisalign is a more popular solution for adults. During your consultation, Dr. Saylor will perform a full mouth assessment to determine if your teeth are suited for the Invisalign treatment.
